The Irish Dental Health Products Association (IDHPA) has released its annual report for the year ending March 2016.
IDHPA is a trade body representing the dental profession, the pharmaceutical industry, the dentists profession, dentifrice and dental implants industry.
The association represents about 100,000 dental and dental implant manufacturers and distributors in the country.
It represents about 80,000 of the more than 80,500 dentists and dentifrices in the Irish health sector.
IDDPA’s annual report includes the following:The report said dental health product companies are in a challenging position.
“We have a lot of challenges to meet, and we are seeing it across all sectors of the dental industry.
We believe that the first step to a solution is to ensure that dental health is treated as a public health issue. “
The top three biggest issues we face today are: the need to increase awareness, develop new products, and find the right balance between cost and benefit, to provide better services and to attract more dental users.”
We believe that the first step to a solution is to ensure that dental health is treated as a public health issue.
We believe this must be an integral part of the strategy for the future.
“The report also outlined a range of measures being taken to address dental health.
There were plans to improve the supply chain by: “Increasing the supply of dental equipment, including new types of dental instruments and appliances; strengthening the supply chains of dental products; developing new dental products and dental appliances; increasing dental education, and providing a higher level of quality education.”
The report also mentioned increased spending on education in the health sector and the need for dental services to be provided more frequently.”
This includes the creation of an Irish DDSM (dental and dental healthcare) programme, which aims to provide dental and health services more frequently, and also to provide a better balance between costs and benefits for the patient,” it said.
