Two men in their late 30s with meningitis have told FourFourtwo they have tested positive to the deadly bacteria.
The men have all travelled to Germany from Turkey, where they live, for treatment.
They said they started feeling better on the first day of treatment, and that the doctors and nurses they have met are also feeling better.
“We’re happy and relaxed, we don’t feel tired, we are feeling a lot better,” said a 26-year-old who wants to remain anonymous.
“When we are in Germany we feel like we can go to the pub and eat something and we’re having fun,” he said.
“The doctors have been very helpful and they are very understanding.”
He said he did not have to be worried about getting infected, since his infection was treated with antibiotics.
“I do not need to worry, because we are all being treated very carefully, like in a hospital.”
It’s just that I feel better,” he added.”
There is no reason for people to be concerned, and no reason to be afraid.
“That’s the biggest difference between us and the other patients here in Turkey.”
The men had been in contact with the Turkish authorities when they returned to Turkey.
Two of the men are believed to be aged in their 40s.
