Health products makers Tabak and Men’s Health Inc, which make the Tabak® Men’s and Tabak Women’s Health products, have launched a new product line called Prostate Health Products.
The product line is targeted at men aged 50-59 years, said Lisa Burdett, senior vice president of marketing and brand development at Tabak.
The brand, which has a global presence, plans to start offering the product line by the end of next year.
The products will feature a range of products ranging from prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing kits to prostate cancer screening and treatment tools.
The brand is aiming to launch the product in stores in April, she said.
The company is in discussions with multiple countries, including Canada, Europe and the U.S. for distribution, she added.
Tabak is not the first U.N. agency to launch a prostate-health product line.
In June, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) said that some products from companies including Tabak are “likely carcinogenic.”
IARC said in a statement the Tabaks product “is not carcinogenic to humans” and “does not appear to be likely to be carcinogenic in humans.”
In February, the FDA announced that it would no longer review products for human use that have been marketed as having a “non-toxic” effect on the prostate or its structures.
The agency also said it would move to prohibit companies from making false claims about the cancer-fighting potential of their products.
The FDA said in its statement the agency will now consider whether the product can be marketed as safe for men.
